Old South Cemetery in October. Graves and tombs at Old South Cemetery in the small coastal town of Ipswich, Massachusetts. This historical cemetery is a simply beautiful place, located in one of the oldest towns in the United States.
I was captivated by this cemetery. The North Shore of Boston is one of my favorite places to visit the shore, often off-season, to simply enjoy the beauty of the Massachusetts coastline. On one of my trips to the area, I decided to make a stop at this cemetery, and was so glad I did. In autumn the colors were stunning, and the place was magical.
Of course, I have digitally altered this photo, to enrich tones and add atmosphere. People have told me it’s a great photo for Halloween.
My other photos from Old South Cemetery: Tombs of Old South Cemetery, and One Tomb in Old South Cemetery.
If you found your way here through a search for Ipswich, you might be interested in the book Ipswich: Images of America, which offers a good basic overview of the history of the town.
